Rejoice! We haven’t seen the last of the K-ON! anime yet.

The official website for the K-ON! television anime series has announced on Tuesday that production on a new extra episode has been green-lit. The new animation based on kakifly‘s original manga will be included in the seventh volume of the Blu-ray Disc (limited first pressing) and DVD releases. According to online retailers, Pony Canyon will ship the seventh volume on January 20 of next year.

However, January 20 of next year is quite far off from now. At least it adds something to look forward to for next year, right?

For those who haven’t already seen this on Sankaku Complex: Azusa cosplaying as Alicia. Pretty good photoshop work?

Anyways, episode 12 of K-ON! is pretty much the ending to this season plotwise, but there is a preview showing an extra episode which I am assuming is one of those filler-for-fun episodes. Hopefully we’ll get a few laughs from it since the past couple of K-ON! episodes have been somewhat drama heavy.

The first anime series from this season that I will be taking a look at is K-On! This light-hearted series is about four high school girls who all join the school’s light music club. The four main characters are Yui (plays the guitar), Ritsu (plays the drums), Mio (plays the bass), and Tsumugi, or better known as Mugi (plays the keyboard). They are all usually shown together throughout the series though it seems at the start Yui is emphasized.

K-On! has an enjoyable atmosphere with unique and likable characters. The plot focuses on their goal of improving their band/club in order to have a grand performance before they all graduate from high school. This series reminds me of Lucky Star, though it has a definitely more concrete plot than what seemed to be simply daily life shown in Lucky Star. Anyways, this series is a must see for this season if you want a relaxing anime that gives you a few laughs.
