Saw a link for this Japanese Lisp manga over at reddit and decided to go check it out.

Highly amusing concept considering that Scheme (a dialect of Lisp) is essentially the first computer programming language we were required to learn at UC Berkeley in CS61A.

One of the comments on reddit translates the character descriptions:

• Riko-san: the god of lazy bums who hang out in the Ikeda-city electronics stores.

• Suzu: famous in his area for being that guy who caught the alligator in in the swamp

• Wakana: SFC mario kart, able to complete some course in 1.56min flat

• Rikka: loves tofu, never thinks about anything but tofu.

• Mirin: a local cat. until recently often confused the concept of ‘macros’ with ‘maguro’ (maguro is Japanese for tuna)

• kuda- (i guess this explains the above): a vehicle that uses/travels the right side of the road (vehicles in japan drive on the left side)

• aya: a small animal. shes not very bright.

Needless to say, those are some epic characters.

I went to Star Wars: In Concert this Sunday and brought my camera to take a few pictures.

Outside the actual seating area, they had Star Wars costumes/props displayed.

Here were most of them (it hard to take good photos since kids kept getting in the way):

The actual “concert hall” before the performance, which is normally used for hockey games – the San Jose Sharks.

Surprisingly, all the seats weren’t filled up.

Now for pictures of the actual performance.

The voice of C-3PO was there in person to do the narrations.

Lots of fun gimmicks were used: lasers, fire, and smoke.

Encore anyone?

It was a great experience for my first concert.

However, like my dad stated, it would have been better to get closer seats on the ground floor in order to listen to the actual instruments. We were way up in the 2nd level and probably hearing the speakers most of the time since this wasn’t an actual concert hall. =/

My pre-order for Saber Lily ~Distant Avalon~ from Hobby Search has arrived this morning.

The packaging is very well done with the figure solidly secured inside, and it even has bubble wrap padding the back of the dress. The exterior of the box has a foil surface that makes it reflective, creating an effect suitable for Saber.

Best figure hands down out of all those that are currently released, although I am biased in many ways. The quality and level of work required to make this figure is simply astounding. Even the base it stands on is epic. Good Smile Company has certainly made it worth waiting through all those delays on this figure.

A friend showed me one of Nostromo’s AMVs today and I became an instant fan. Although I don’t usually watch AMVs, I must say that his work is amazing and I can’t even imagine how many hours he expended in making them.

It’s great that he includes the companion AMVs showing which anime/game scenes were used. Did you recognize all the series when you first saw the AMV?

Although they are both brilliantly done, I prefer Magic Pad over Auriga -- just my preference I guess.

His AMVs have won 1st place internationally at Japan Expo along with other numerous honors. The YouTube page for each AMV has all the related information for it, such as the soundtrack, animes used, and contest awards.

I highly recommend watching them in HQ or even downloading the AMVs, especially for the Making of AMVs -- the text can be quite blurry for the anime titles in low resolution.

Finally a concert that I want to go to is actually coming to a city near me on their tour! I’m really looking forward to this since it will be my first concert experience.

The video pretty much shows you what Star Wars: In Concert is about and explains it.

I’ll be going to their concert in San Jose, CA on October 11, 2009 at the HP Pavilion. Can’t really afford the expensive seats, so hopefully the view won’t be too bad.

If you live near or can go to one of the cities on their tour, do it! You never know when a chance like this is going to come around again.
