Japan Trip 2011 – Day 5 (The Great Buddha of Kamakura)

The Great Buddha of Kamakura was within walking distance of Hase-dera and was also our final stop in Kamakura.

It wasn’t as large as I expected when I first saw it in person.

You could pay a nominal fee to see the inside, but we opted out since it was just a bronze interior.

We went back to the train station afterward to head back to Tokyo.

Since we had JR passes anyways, might as well make use of them and take the Shinkansen. 🙂

Ah! this one came out in Iku Musume I belive. Apparently the Buddha is a robot that comes to life when it feels threatened.

Haha, oh really? I only saw the first episode of Iku Musume so I didn’t get to see that.

I have barely watched Ika Musume so I wouldn’t know, but it seems like it. >_<

Your photos are great. Thanks so much for sharing. I can’t wait to visit Kamakura. Every time I try to go, it rains. 🙁 I’ll try again in September. 🙂
