Japan Trip 2011 – Day 4 (Yokohama Chinatown, Ikebukuro)

Continuing on from the previous Day 4 post, we took the train to Yokohama to visit the Chinatown there.

Unfortunately, we somehow got lost and ended up walking an extra 30 minutes. 🙁

The entrance to Chinatown was quite obvious and a welcome relief when we first saw it.

We didn’t stay for long since hunger was not an issue after eating at the Ramen Museum.

A slight detour was taken to see Yokohama Bay.

Afterward, we headed to Ikebukuro to check out Sunshine City.

Sunshine City has an open air observation deck on the roof, so I like it more than Tokyo Tower with regard to its amazing view.

It was around sunset time, so we stayed in order to see the transition from daytime to nighttime Tokyo.

Mount Fuji was clearly visible during sunset.

The elevators in Sunshine City are some of the fastest in the world.

Durarara!! anyone?

Day 4 was very hectic and tiring. I would not recommend trying to visit so many places in a single day.

Thanks! Yeah, that road under the freeway in Ikebukuro looks like the one in Durarara!! that Celty speeds around on.

Ikebukuro looks a lot different when it’s not night and raining

Although luckily we didn’t experience much rain, I like the nighttime Ikebukuro more than daytime.

I was at Ikebukuro two days ago, now it’s my second favoret place to go in Japan (first is of course Akihabara!). I found many interesting stores; and the Book Off store there (above where the Cinama theater was) had some english books! I should take pictures myself next time I go.

Ah, we didn’t really explore Ikebukuro since it was already getting late, but we did spend substantial time in Akihabara. I look forward to seeing your photos! 🙂
