Japan Trip 2011

I’m still doing some last minute packing since we’re leaving for the airport early in the morning tomorrow.

Here’s a more detailed itinerary with the major places we want to hit each day:

5 nights (Tokyo): Hotel Yanagibasi
1 night (Hakone): Ichinoyu Honkan
3 nights (Kyoto): Hotel Unizo
2 nights (Tokyo): Hotel Yanagibasi

11 nights | 10 full days

[Day 1 – Thurs 10/20]
– Arrive at Narita Airport
– Exchange currency (USD to Yen)
– Pick up JR pass (Travel Service Center)
– Purchase Suica & N’EX package
– Travel to Hotel Yanagibasi
– Tokyo Tower
Roppongi Hills
– Sleep in Tokyo

[Day 2 – Fri 10/21]
– Ghibli Museum
– Nakano
– Sleep in Tokyo

[Day 3 – Sat 10/22]
– Asakusa
– Akihabara
– Sleep in Tokyo

[Day 4 – Sun 10/23]
Ramen Museum
– Yokohama Chinatown
– Ikebukuro
– Sleep in Tokyo

[Day 5 – Mon 10/24]
– Great Buddha (Daibutsu)
– Hase Temple (Hasedera)
– Zeniarai Benten
– Sleep in Tokyo

[Day 6 – Tue 10/25]
– Owakudani
– Onsen Inn
– Sleep in Hakone

[Day 7 – Wed 10/26]
– Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion)
– Nijo Castle
– Nishiki Market
– Kiyomizudera Temple
– Sleep in Kyoto

[Day 8 – Thu 10/27]
– Kofukuji Temple

– Arrive at Nanba station

– Dotonbori (river area)

Depart Japan from Narita Airport


Anything interesting that I missed? Or any suggestions for specific places to visit?

Since this is our first time going to Japan, we might do more or less each day depending on how things turn out. I probably won’t have time to post until I’m back, so see you all in 2 weeks~!

    Yeah, it feels like a whirlwind tour of some major areas in Japan. I’ve been cutting out some stuff though, such as spending another day in Kyoto tomorrow instead of going to Nara.
