A Channel – First Impressions

A Channel is a slice-of-life series revolving around four high school girls.

Upon starting the first episode, I was instantly reminded of Lucky Star. Its similarities include being based on a 4-koma, taking place in a school setting, having 4 main characters, and the art style itself. Judging from their personalities, each main character appears to represent a different stereotype, but hopefully the series will be able to develop them into something far more interesting and out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, in the span of a single episode they have already managed to overuse the same jokes that weren’t even funny to begin with.

There’s potential for it to do what it was meant to do, which is entertain us. At the moment though, this is shaping up to be an inferior version of Lucky Star.

Rating: Decent

  1. The first episode was pretty entertaining, and it’s by no means original, I agree. It is something fun to relax to, though. I’m not expecting much except to smile, and enjoy the ride with this show.
