Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru – First Impressions

It feels like I’ve done a ton of First Impressions posts for this season, but I think I’m nearing the home stretch.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru is a slice-of-life comedy situated mostly in a small cafe that’s trying to promote itself as a maid cafe to attract more customers. Each episode is split up to represent a few chapters in the manga. It even states exactly which chapter that part of the episode is coming from before it shows it.

I appreciate these daily life comedies much more than I used to since it’s nice to unwind after work and get a few laughs from watching this. Almost all the humor stems from the clumsy female lead’s antics, which is magnified by gimmicks such as slowing down time and zooming in on their faces to catch their reactions.

I do wish there were more series that used a college or company setting instead of the high school backdrops we’ve been seeing a lot of this season.

Same here. I’m starting to feel a disconnect from all the high school life settings when I watch anime. 🙁

Yeah, I guess I do…until I start falling behind on a few of them because I lose interest.

I’m only going to feel the disconnect from high school life settings get bigger as I get older. 🙁
