The World God Only Knows is about a high school student who is godly at dating sim games.
He accepts what he thought was an online challenge to “capture” 2D girls, but instead turns out to be a contract to help capture loose spirits. These spirits hide in the hearts of girls and the easiest way to make them come out is to have the girl fall in love. So he has to go around with his demon sidekick making various girls fall for him, or else he’ll be killed for failing to fulfill the contract.
Each girl comes with her own unique set of problems, resulting in mini-arcs where he “captures” the heart of a different girl in each one. This format appeals to me because I can see each arc resolved in one or two sittings as opposed to waiting 13 episodes for an ending that never comes.
The main character is also fun to watch. Even though he’s usually playing games on his “PFP” and is referred to as the “otamegane” (glasses otaku) by his classmates, he gets the job done and isn’t a bad guy.
