Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu – First Impressions
Fantasy/adventure series has long since been one of my favorites to watch.
Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu (The Legend of the Legendary Heroes) first caught my attention with its title that suggests a grand story waiting to be told. However, the first episode left me disappointed with repeated gags and not much happening in terms of plot.
Then I watched the next three episodes.
These episodes serve as the real start of the story. They reveal the past of Ryner Lute, the easy-going male lead who is also the strongest mage in the kingdom. He is accompanied by Ferris Eris, a female swordmaster, as they quest to recover heroic artifacts.
If you didn’t like the first episode, watch a few more before calling it quits – you won’t regret it.
With 26 episodes planned, Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu might be able to impress me enough to give it an “Excellent”.
Rating: Very Good

If you do give it a try, make sure to at least watch the first 3 episodes or so. The 1st episode is somewhat meh.

Actually, conversely to what you said, I think the first episode is trying to attract the viewer. If you leapt straight into story, most people would quit soon, right? With the first episode, you get a glance of what would happen afterwards, the current state of things, etc. – an overview of what’s happening in the world. THEN you can start getting into the more serious side of it.

Yeah, I got the feeling that the first episode was acting as a grabber. The repeated gag comedy scenes was simply not to my liking. I know it’s because Ryner has a nonchalant attitude, but I hope they don’t overdo it in future episodes.
I think it would have been awesome if it started out with Ryner’s dark backstory, but I prefer my fantasy series to be serious business.

Haven’t been in the mood for fantasy at all lately. I guess I’ll be skipping this.

Different things for different times. Sometimes I would randomly stop watching a good series just because I felt like it. *shrug*
