Nodame Cantabile Finale First Impressions

Nodame Cantabile Finale

The final season of Nodame Cantabile is now airing.

If you’ve been following this series and saw the previous two seasons, then you already know what it’s all about. If you haven’t, it’s definitely worth watching and ripe for marathoning.

At the start, you already see the usual dynamic relationship between Chiaki and Nodame – our two main characters. Essentially, this entire series is a romance focusing around music. It’s an added bonus to hear parts of various classical music pieces, whose titles and composers are thoughtfully given. The animation style with its watercolor-like coloring reminds me of Honey & Clover, and it complements the theme of music nicely.

My rating is heavily influenced by the fact that I’ve been playing the piano for well over 10 years (I forget the exact year I started), but regardless of that – this anime merits some serious consideration if you aren’t watching it already.

Rating: Very Good

  1. I don’t know whether it’s something I haven’t seen for so long or just flat-out missed this show, but I absolutely loved how they structured the first episode. Both are well on their way to a better and brighter future and I can’t wait to see where they go from here.

Plus, some the pieces they played were awesome! The classical music was something I didn’t get a lot out of the 2nd season, so to have Tchaikovsky, Bach, and Chopin thrown in was a huge bonus! Looks like my classical fanboy-ism is totally engaged!

It feels like it has been a while since the 2nd season, so my memory is a bit vague on it. But I think it had more drama over the classical music aspect.

Hopefully we’ll continue to hear great pieces this season. Woot, classical music!
