My pencil of choice is the Pentel Graph 1000 for Pro. I heard about it over at MegaTokyo ages ago.
I have been using my current Graph 1000 for around 3.5 years now, which is since the start of college. My previous one I used for 4 years throughout all of high school, but it got lost.
Unfortunately, this model is discontinued now and replaced with the Graph Gear 1000. I prefer the old version and I’ll probably pick up some spares when I find them.
But seriously, just shell out $20 and get yourself a mechanical pencil that can last you for a decade or longer.

For me, the issue with pencils isn’t with them not lasting long enough; it’s that they get lost so easily, either from lending them out or simply by magic. So a pencil that can last a decade is useless for me because I doubt I will still have it after a year.

Yeah, that’s the drawback. If you lose it, then it’s all bad.
It’s the only pencil I carry with me nowadays, so I keep a pretty close watch on it though. Otherwise, I have nothing to write with.

Definitely going to pick one of these up, I am getting tired of hand sharpening my pencils all the time, and also to my limit of frustration when the pencil gets to small to write with where is hurts to hold it. I cringe at the thought of pens, but I can’t believe I never considered buying a mechanical pencil. :p

I’ve had my current Graph 1000 for Pro for over 10 years – it is hands down the best pencil EVER- and have been googling for them periodically over the past few years so I could find a source to buy some backups without success…until today! Jetpens.com has them for $12.50 – so I’m ordering 2…soooo excited!!

I’m in the 9th grade and i got two of these as a gift for christmas. I’m pissed off because they were THE BEST pencils and within a week of me taking them to school, they had been lost and stolen. Thats how fucked up the 9th grade is, i suppose. So i bought 5 more (almost 80 dollors) a week ago and one is already lost. I seriously fucking cried, and kind of wish my dad hadn’t bought them in the first place for christmas, because i feel so bad about losing them. and now they are discontinued.

Even though they’re discontinued, I believe Jetpens.com still has them in-stock.
