Translation Party!

chibi_saberThis isn’t a party but Saber is having fun!

My brother the other day told me about a website called Translation Party.

You simply enter an English phrase, and it then translates it back and forth between English and Japanese until an equilibrium is found. The fun factor in this are the warped phrases you can get from the repeated translations.

Examples:

Reltair has no time to watch anime.

Anime is godly.

The translations are done with Google’s translation engine. Quite a neat concept, I should have thought of it!

What amusing/interesting translation parties can you get?

New Banner

saber_casual

As you have probably noticed, I replaced the old banner with a new one that is from the Fate/stay night: Saber Portraits art book. I got the high resolution scan from Safebooru.

Felt that it would be nice to have some new scenery.

Anyways, back to writing my term papers and studying for finals. To anyone else doing the same: Ganbatte!

Lineark White-Glint 1/72 Scale Model

white_glint_box

Picked up a White Glint model by Kotobukiya. It’s from the Armored Core game series and is featured on the cover of the PS3 game Armored Core: For Answer.

As you can see, the model kit has quite a number of pieces (350 to be exact). It doesn’t require glue or paint, which I now actually prefer after building model aircraft in my childhood. The finished model can transform between normal and flying mode, and has 30 movable points.

Hopefully I’ll be able to set aside some time next weekend to build it!

Fate/stay night Movie: Unlimited Blade Works

unlimited_blade_works

For those who haven’t checked yet, the Fate/stay night Movie website has been updated. It now shows a release date of 1/23/2010, so still half a year to go before it’s in theaters in Japan. Though highly unlikely, it would be awesome to see it in theaters here in the United States. =/

Looking through the menu on the site, some related merchandise is also shown. There appears to be a poster of Saber Lily in casual clothes (do want!) along with two different t-shirts. One is lime green with a chibi Saber (?) outlined in white and the other is white with Saber outlined in white on a black background. I’m assuming these products will be difficult to acquire for us foreigners.

I wonder if this Saber related merchandise has anything to do with the film?

Bloody Monday

bloody_monday

Another manga that I follow, Bloody Monday.

Summary from One Manga:

A virus deal clinched in Russia on the Christmas eve. Purpose: unknown. Two clues: a mysterious lady “Maya”, one of the gangsters, and “Bloody Monday”, the keyword for the project.

Then an incident happened in far-distant city of Tokyo. Fujimaru Takagi, a second grade student at Mishiro Gakuin high school, is commissioned to find out the truth by Public Security Investigation Bureau for his great ability as a super hacker. Now, Maya, approaching to Fujimaru, as his high school teacher…

The story is about as believable as Live Free or Die Hard (a “super hacker” can hack into anything with his laptop in mere seconds). I find it highly amusing, taking into account my relation to computer science, since it follows the mainstream perception of “hacking.”

Nevertheless, it’s entertaining enough to merit reading though I believe it is tagged mature due to some scenes of violence (blood and gore).

Kemono no Souja Erin

kemono_no_souja_erin

Started watching Kemono no Souja Erin a few days ago on a recommendation from a friend. I remember dismissing this series when it first aired in January after a quick glance at the synopsis and the animation style.

However, after finishing a few episodes I had already found the plot to be compelling with the essence of the anime reminiscent of Seirei no Moribito. Then I researched a bit and found that it was written by Uehashi Nahoko, the same author of Seirei no Moribito. Furthermore, the producers included Production I.G. with their style being evident in the anime upon closer inspection.

Thus began a short anime marathon of 26 episodes to catch up to the most recent release out of a total of 50 episodes. I was not disappointed at all once I was caught up and instead wanted to see more. At times, certain scenes and the background take on a storybook illustration quality which can throw viewers off, but I think it fits with the atmosphere of the anime.

Kemono no Souja Erin and Seirei no Moribito are both excellent series with intriguing stories about the growth of the main characters. These stories remind me of classics such as David Copperfield, where the reader is allowed to see a character’s struggles and achievements as he/she grows up.

Give it a chance if you haven’t already, you won’t regret doing so.

Adelicia Lenn Mathers 1/8 PVC Figure by Gift

adelicia_1

Adelicia Lenn Mathers as sculpted by Hiroshi and sold by Gift, but distributed by Good Smile Company. I wonder why Gift doesn’t distribute their own figures; maybe they don’t have the infrastructure for it yet?

The Good Smile Company site has recently added this figure, which is where all these lovely images come from.

Anti-Endless Eight

endless_eightThe level of my attention while “watching” Haruhi.

The Haruhi fiasco that is Endless Eight is simply ridiculous.

I started to lose interest in it after the 2nd loop, didn’t really pay attention 3rd loop, flipped through the 4th loop, and then promptly gave up and stopped watching Haruhi.

A poor decision on the studio’s part, unless they wanted all this free but negative “advertising.”

Support the movement! Saw this on Ganbatte Forever! – a rant post by Seinime. ^o^

Kara no Kyoukai: Oblivion Recorder

azaka_2

So I got around to watching the sixth Kara no Kyoukai movie titled Oblivion Recorder. Type-Moon works tend to be darker fantasy worlds which is evident in their other projects such as Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. However, this one pleasantly surprised me with its focus on Azaka, Mikiya’s younger sister that had minimal screen time in the past couple movies.

Anime List Page

yuki_nagato

I finally got around to making a page that lists all the anime series/movies/OVAs that I have either seen, saw part of, or am currently watching. When I have nothing to post about, I’ll probably select a random anime from the list and write about it.

The list might have some anime that I’ve seen left out since my eyes started to gloss over all the titles once I was about halfway through.

Feel free to request a post on any of the animes or to recommend an anime that I haven’t seen yet.
