Blizzcon 2009

blizzcon_map

I’m attending Blizzcon for the first time this year!

Currently staying at the Hyatt, but the wireless connection I’m using is a bit unstable so I might not be making future posts until after Blizzcon (I’ll try my best to do so though).

I’ll be attending the Opening/Closing ceremonies for sure along with the finals for the WoW Arena and Starcraft tournaments. Haven’t decided on which panels to go to yet, but they should be interesting.

Probably going to pick up my badge/goodie bag later tonight when it’s cooler. The smog in Los Angeles is ugh.

K-ON! Yui Hirasawa Nendoroid

yui_mio_nendos

I’ve been seeing a lot of blog posts spreading the news about the upcoming Yui nendo, but I’m still going to post about it despite that.

New Yui nendo by Good Smile Company is coming out this December for 3,500 yen, which is roughly $37~ USD (seems to be the standard release price on their nendos).

Judging from the photos alone, Yui fits the role of being a nendo perfectly. Hopefully GSC will make the entire K-ON! cast, then I’ll be able to have the set. ^^;

Also, I’m looking forward to seeing Azusa as a figure or a nendo – preferably both!

Figure Display Shelves

glass_wall_shelf

I was thinking of making use of empty wall space to display some more (future) figures.

These glass wall shelves from IKEA look decent for their price. 31.125″ x 7.5″ for $19.99 and 46.875″ x 10.25″ for $24.99.

The bracket is made of anodized aluminum while the shelf is tempered/safety glass. It doesn’t come with fasteners so I guess I would be using nails since the glass might make it too heavy for thumbtacks.

Seems like an efficient solution to making use of extra wall space. How do you collectors out there display your figures?

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty

starcraft2_marines

Since Blizzcon 2009 is coming up, I thought I’ll post this new video showing the Starcraft 2 Terran Campaign.

That battle cruiser is so overpowered; it annihilated that mass swarm of zerglings in mere seconds! Good thing they didn’t have any scourges there, right? I’m really looking forward to this game; Blizzard has done great work with the Starcraft universe and this will hopefully live up to its predecessor.

I was almost certain that Blizzard would release Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty this year, but it unfortunately got pushed back to next year. >_<

It’s also disappointing to have to buy 3 separate games since they are releasing the Terran, Protoss, and Zerg campaigns separately. $150? Ouch.

K-ON! Special 1

k-on_special_1

A really short K-ON! special episode is out. It features Yui pondering about random things having to do with each of the other members.

The above image is the animation quality of this almost 3 minute episode. I guess it’s supposed to reflect Yui’s personality, or the studio was just plain lazy. However, they had to get the seiyuu cast together to do their respective voices; I wonder what their thoughts were during the recording? >_>

Go see the pointlessness for yourself.

As promised, here are photos I took of my completed White-Glint model by Kotobukiya.

Be warned – this post is picture intensive!

Building Models

white-glint_construction

So I started building my White-Glint model today since my summer school is finally over. It is taking way longer than I had expected; I think 5-6 hours have passed since I started. Time flies when you’re having fun, right?

Making the edges smooth with a knife after you snap out a part from the grid is really time consuming. Snapping together those small parts and tiny joints really hurts my fingers. Okay okay, enough complaining. I guess it’s pretty neat to see yourself getting closer and closer to the final product as you go along.

I’ll probably finish it tonight and post some photos of it tomorrow. (Don’t build models on your bed – bad idea!)

Fate/stay night Movie Trailer

rin_tohsaka

A trailer for the upcoming Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works movie was shown at Comiket 76!

The quality isn’t too good due to the surrounding noise, but at least we get to see it:

The animation quality appears to be superior to the Fate/stay night anime from 2006, as would be expected after a few years and considering that this is a theatrical release. (The blood gushing out of Shirou’s arm – very nicely done! ^^).

The action scenes look breathtakingly intense as well, with appearances by a considerable number of the Fate/stay night cast. Even with the surrounding noise, one can hear the epic/heroic music being played in the trailer.

Seeing it just makes me anticipate the movie all the more! >_<

Mio Akiyama Figures

mio

Seems like the figure makers are going along with Mio’s popularity. Above we have a Mio Akiyama 1/8 PVC figure by Alter.

nendo_mio

Then we have a Nendoroid Mio Akiyama by Good Smile Company. They’re both being released this November.

I know I’m going to be getting them, are you?

Bakemonogatari ED Single

bakemonogatari_ed

Nipponsei recently put up the Bakemonogatari ED Single – Kimi no Shira nai Monogatari. The above image is from the case spine of the CD.

For those of you that watch the anime, you probably already heard it before. Here’s a sample for those of you who haven’t.

Pro song, I’ll be listening to it on repeat while I write my term paper. -.-
