After reading about some of the anime series airing this summer season, I chose to write about CANAAN – an anime adaptation based on a scenario the Type-Moon co-founders made for the Wii game 428: FÅ«sasareta Shibuya de (428: In a Blockaded Shibuya).

I don’t know the specifics on that particular scenario, but the game received a perfect score from Famitsu, which is not something easy to obtain. It is played through the perspectives of multiple characters viewing the same events while the story unfolds. So they might choose to use the same technique in the anime and show how events are played out from different angles.

Here’s a CANAAN promotional video from Comiket:

I think the character designs look great as would be expected of Type-Moon (^^;). The theme song played is “Arousing Soul” by Faylan, who is doing the opening song as well. The cast of voice actors looks promising, especially with Rie Tanaka (Lacus Clyne in Gundam Seed, Maria in Hayate no Gotoku).

First episode airs July 4th, 2009 with a total of 13 episodes, be ready for it.
